The mission of the Center for Northern Forest Research is to foster understanding of and appreciation for the unique biological communities of the Northern Forest, with emphasis on the Nulhegan Basin in northeastern Vermont.

Through research the Center will critically examine and test theories of ecological restoration, conservation biology, and ecological sustainability while participating in the design and monitoring of Northern Forest management programs.

The Center will promote experiential, inquiry-based learning opportunities for undergraduates interested in the natural sciences, and will seek to disseminate current Northern Forest research findings and management information to natural resource managers and local communities.
